St John Ambulance

St John Ambulance, Belmont Division

St John Ambulance can offer an interesting and rewarding challenge to people of all ages and membership is open to anyone who wants to become involved in its activities.

We meet every Tueasday evening between 5.30 and 7.30 during term time. At our division we have a Badger Group and a Cadet Group, the badgers are members aged between 5 and 10, and the cadets are aged 10 to 18; when a cadet turns 18 they can become an adult member. At our weekly division meetings, the Cadets work on their chosen cadet subject, which is part of the grand prior scheme, and the Badgers work on their chosen badger badge, which is part of the super badger scheme. Along with this both groups undertake first aid training either during divisional meetings or during set training sourses usually held on a weekend at our county HQ in Meadowfield, Durham. As well as this there are a lot of exciting activities held throughout the county that our badgers and cadets take part in.

At the moment we are looking for keen, enthusiastic adults (18 years +) to assist at our division. If you think you have what it takes to be a youth leader/helper within a thriving organisation, then please get in touch with our unit leader, Lynda Aunger, on 07824496681 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. It's a very laid back atmosphere and we have loads of fun; along with structured activities we very often take a break to plan team building games.

Comments from Badgers: "it's fun", "we have made friends since coming here".

Comments from Cadets: "we learn lifesaving first aid in a fun and enjoyable way", "it's good fun".
